Happy 4th of July weekend! Short newsletter this week because the editor is headed out of town for some fishing and hiking.

- Upcoming Activities
Strictly following the guidance of the City of Chicago and the Pathway to Adventure Council of the BSA we are cautiously ramping up Troop activities. All activities will require social distancing and face coverings.

Here is what is coming up:
  • Saturday, July 11 – Philmont Crew 15-Mile Hike
  • Sunday, July 12 – Eagle Patrol 5-Mile Hike
  • Monday, July 20 – Troop Meeting at Bunker Hill Forest Preserve – 7:00 – 8:30 pm
  • Saturday, July 25 – Litter Pick-Up Service Opportunity
  • Friday-Saturday, July 31-August 1 – 24-Hour Backpacker – Camp Reinberg

- Conservation Service Project – Saturday, July 25 – Litter Pick-Up
Join the Troop for a litter pick-up in the forest preserves. The service will count toward the service hours rank requirement. The project will comply with the need to maintain social distance and wear face coverings.

- 24-Hour Backpacker – July 31-August 1 – Mark Your Calendar
We are working on the details of a one night backpacking and camping outing. It will be planned out to comply with social distancing and face coverings. More details to come.

The idea behind the Backpacker is to give a little taste of full-on backpacking. On Friday night we hike about 5 or 6 miles to a camp, cook a trail dinner, sleep out overnight, eat a quick breakfast in the morning and then hike back. We are usually home by noon on Saturday. It is a quick and fun way to get a night out on the trail.

- Youth Protection Reminder – Scouts need to remember that your emails to leaders must be copied to a parent or another leader or both. It is very important to remember this for everyone’s protection. Please do not text leaders. Leaders will not be texting you.

Take care and keep that mask on!
