March is a busy month with Scout Mass on March 8, the Spring Court of Honor on March 9, the Order of the Arrow election on March 16 and the Webelos Crossover on March 23. We are also transitioning into the hiking and tent camping season (Yes!!). First up is the Court of Honor this coming Monday.

We also need Scouts to bring pop. The Troop is getting a cake for that night.
Parents and family members are invited for 7:30. Please attend to support your son in Scouts and to recognize his rank advancement and merit badges.

Join fellow Scouts and Leaders for the March Scout Mass. Class A uniforms please!
- Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta Wrap-Up
Seventeen Scouts and leaders had a good weekend at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta near Burlington, Wisconsin. We stayed in a recently renovated cabin, went tubing at Wilmot, and hiked around the grounds of the camp. Carter was the cook for the Scouts and did an excellent job.
- Patrol Leader Council Reschedule: March 16 at 7:00 PM – Ahearn Center Lobby
- Webelos Crossover – Monday, March 23 – During the Troop Meeting
- March Backpacking Weekend – March 27-29 – Ice Age Trail, Kettle Moraine South
This is a challenging and fun opportunity to experience a couple of days of backpacking. We will carry everything on our backs – clothes, sleeping gear, and food. We will have trail shelters to sleep in at night. The shelters are three-sided wood structures that offer some protection from the elements. The trip offers a chance to add to your outdoor skills and complete some of the requirements for Camping merit badge – an Eagle requirement.
The cost of the trip is $45.00 per person and the permission slip can be found on the Troop web site (troop965.org). Payment and the permission slip are due at the March 23 Troop meeting. No late – after March 23 - sign-ups will be taken.
We will use two trail shelters on the Ice Age Trail in Kettle Moraine State Forest for our trip. We will leave from St. Juliana late Friday afternoon, March 27 and head up to the Trail in Kettle Moraine. A short hike of about a mile or so on Friday night will get us into the woods and up to Shelter 1 for the night. On Saturday, we will hike about 9 miles to Shelter #2. On Sunday, we will hike 5 more miles to Horseriders’ Camp and then head home in the early afternoon.
See you Monday!
