- Next Troop Meeting – Monday, February 17 – School Hall - 7:00-9:00 PM
Representatives from the Order of the Arrow will be at the Troop meeting to conduct an election. Scouts who have reached the rank of First Class and have camped out for at least 15 nights are eligible to be elected to the OA. Louie P. is the only Scout currently eligible. will be able to select Louie P. for the Order. The OA reps will also give a presentation about summer camp at Owasippe.
Class B uniforms for this meeting.
- Patrol Leader Council – Monday, February 17 – 7:00 PM
The next PLC meeting has been rescheduled to February 17 – prior to the regular Troop meeting. Please be on time and ready to work. The members of the PLC are Tom, Matthew, Louie, Brian, Robert, Aiden, Nathaniel, and Matteo.
- 10-Mile Hike – Saturday, February 15 - Palos Woods
Troop 965 will continue working on the Hiking Merit Badge and Fort Dearborn Trails Medal with a 10-mile hike on Saturday, February 15th. We will hike on the Palos Trail System near Willow Springs, Illinois. The hike will begin at the I&M Trail parking lot on Willow Springs Road north of Archer Ave and end at Teason’s Woods. Using orienteering skills, the Scouts will direct us to specific sites including ridges formed by glaciers, the original site of BSA Camp Kiwanis, sloughs, and the Swallow Cliff slides.
Each hiker must carry their own day pack, bring at least 3 liters of water to drink along the trail, and wear hiking boots. You will not be allowed to hike in gym shoes. Hikers should also bring a sack lunch, snacks for the trail, rain gear, compass, and dress in the appropriate layers.
Parents are welcome to join us on the hike.
We will meet at the St. Juliana Parish Office, 7200 N. Osceola Ave, at 9:00AM on February 15th and return before 5:00PM.
The permission slip is in the Resource Center and should be turned in at the February 10 Troop meeting.
- Cabin Camping – March 7-9 – Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta – Mark Your Calendar!
The Troop is headed to Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta near Burlington, Wisconsin for the first camping weekend of 2025. The cost of the weekend is $45.00 per camper. Sign-up and payment are due by Monday, February 24. Menu planning will be done at the Troop meeting on February 24, so no late sign-ups will be accepted.
The permission slip is in the Resource Center and should be turned in at the February 24 Troop meeting.
- Bishop John Siemianowski – Mass of Thanksgiving – Saturday, March 1 – 5:00 PM
The Troop is honored to have been asked to provide a color guard for Fr. John’s first Mass at St. Juliana as a new bishop. We are looking for four Scouts who would like to serve in the color guard. Volunteers will need to wear their Class A uniforms and green khaki pants. If you are interested in doing this, please let me know as soon as possible.
