Hi everyone,
- Next Troop Meeting – Monday, March 24 - School Courtyard and Gym - EARLY START - 6:45 PM
Monday night is the Webelos Crossover to Scouts. We will meet at 6:45 pm in the school courtyard. Class A uniforms for everyone! I strongly suggest you wear a long sleeve shirt under your Scout shirt, so you stay warm during the Crossover ceremony.
- Summer Camp Deposits Due March 24
Owasippe is now requiring a $75 deposit for Scouts going to summer camp. Scouts must have made a deposit to sign up for merit badges and other activities. Please see the separate summer camp letter that we sent out last week or go to the Summer Camp for more information.
- Summer Camp Meeting for Parents and Scouts - March 31 - 7:00 PM
There is a meeting for every Scout going to summer camp and a parent on Monday, March 31 in the School Hall. WE will discuss signing up for merit badges and other activities at camp.
- Canoe Trip Deposits Due March 31
Deposits for the June White River canoe trip are due by March 31. We need a firm number for the trip so we can make camping reservations and arrange for canoes. The deposit amount is $100. Please let me know if you have any questions.
- Men’s Day of Reflection at St. Juliana on March 29
The Day of Reflection is a great opportunity to take some time to deepen your relationship with Jesus. You can get more information from me or Vic Ramirez or at stjuliana.org. Once you are on the parish website search “Men’s Retreat”. You don’t need to be a member of the parish to participate. All are welcome!
- April 25-27 - Backpacking Weekend - Ice Age Trail, Kettle Moraine State Forest South, Eagle, Wisconsin
This is a challenging and fun opportunity to experience a couple of days of backpacking. We will carry everything on our backs – clothes, sleeping gear, water, and food. The crew will set up camp in trail shelters each night. The shelters are three-sided wood structures that offer some protection from the elements. The trip offers a chance to add to your outdoor skills and complete some of the requirements for Camping merit badge – an Eagle requirement.
The cost of the trip is $45.00 per person and the permission slip can be found in the Resource Center. Payment and the permission slip are due at the April 14 Troop meeting.
We will leave from St. Juliana at 5PM on Friday, April 25, and head up to the Trail in Kettle Moraine. We will use two trail shelters on the Ice Age Trail in Kettle Moraine State Forest for our trip. A short hike of about a mile or so on Friday night will get us into the woods and up to Shelter #1 for the night. On Saturday, we will hike about 9 miles to Shelter #2. On Sunday, we will hike 5 more miles to Horse Riders’ Camp and then head home in the early afternoon.
