Hi everyone,
- Next Troop Meeting – June 3 – Ahearn Center (Gym) – 7:00-9:00
Please note there is no Troop meeting on Memorial Day, May 27.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Spring Court of Honor. I am sure your Scout appreciated that you were there.
I also want to thank all of you for getting your Owasippe payments in on time. We avoided all late fees!
We’re moving into summer mode, so it’s Class B uniforms for a while!
- New Troop T-Shirt
The latest Troop T-shirt has been ordered and will be here in time for the July 13 Car Wash. The cost of the shirt is $15.00. We would like every Scout and Leader to have one, so if cost is an issue, please have a confidential conversation with Pete Stolarski. We can help anyone who is cash strapped.
- Parish Picnic – Sunday, June 2 – Bunker Hill
The Troop will be supporting the Parish Picnic by staffing a first aid station that day. We need Scouts and Leaders to volunteer to staff the first aid station. Please let me know if you are planning to attend and help.
- Palos Woods Hike – Saturday, June 22
Did you know that the Forest Preserves of Cook County, with nearly 70,000 acres, is one of the oldest and largest forest preserve districts in the United States? More than 100 years ago, the people of the fast-growing city of Chicago realized the need to preserve natural areas for recreation and renewal. They voted to set up the preserves and protect them from development. The Forest Preserve lands are nearly 11% of the land in Cook County – an amazing accomplishment! We are the beneficiaries of their wisdom and foresight; and get to enjoy the picnic groves, nature centers, and trails as much as we want.
So, we’re going hiking! More details coming soon to this space.
- Health Forms are Due by June 24
Please make sure to get your Scout’s BSA health form submitted by June 24. Scouts and leaders who haven’t submitted a form by then will not be allowed to attend meetings and activities. Nobody wants that, but BSA rules are very clear on this. This rule is for the protection of Scouts and adults when we are out on activities. All of the information you need can be found on the Health Forms page.
- No Meeting on Memorial Day – May 27
Have a great weekend with family and friends! Please take a few minutes to remember the people who gave their lives to keep us free.
Mr. Pelrine
Scoutmaster, Troop 965
