This coming Monday night we are planning to work on rank advancement (bring your Handbook!) and the First Aid Meet for those who are interested (see below). Class A uniforms for everyone! Thank you!
- Please DON’T Renew Your BSA (Scouting America) Membership Online!
You have probably received an email from the national headquarters by now telling you that “Your BSA Membership is up for renewal,” and inviting you to renew online. Please DON’T renew online! We will be handling the renewal process within the Troop. We will ask you to bring a check with you to a Troop meeting sometime after Thanksgiving.
- First Aid Meet (new date!)
Our Troop is going to practice our first aid skills in order to compete in a first aid meet on December 7 or 8 (we are awaiting final details from Council). Teams of 4 to 6 Scouts from all over the Council will be given simulated first aid scenarios and will be scored based on how well they apply their first aid knowledge and skills. If we are going to go forward with this, we need to start at the next meeting, and any Scout who is interested is welcome to do the training, even if you do not want to be part of the competition. A lot of what we will be doing is required for rank advancement and for the First Aid Merit Badge (which is one of the badges you must do in order to make it to Eagle Scout), so if you are planning to do the training (even just a part of it), you might want to talk to Mr. Gulliford about signing up for the Merit Badge so that you will get credit for all the things you learn!
- Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Camp Reinberg
On Saturday, November 23rd, we will be holding our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Camp Reinberg. Turkey dinner with all the fixings and side dishes and dessert will begin at about 5:30 PM. Camp Reinberg (click for map) is at 1801 N Quentin Rd in Palatine (on Quentin just north of Dundee Rd.). In order to help hold down costs for the dinner and a major deduction on the Troop Treasury we are requiring a fee of $10 per individual or $25 per family. We also ask for a reservation and payment no later than Monday, November 18th, with the number of people attending.
