- Next Troop Meeting - October 27 - 7:00-9:00 PM - Gym

We will be working on advancement and having some open gym time. We’ll also be going over the latest newsletter quiz.
Uniform: Class A or a Halloween costume that took a little work! If you’re not sure you put enough effort into your costume, bring your Class A uniform as a back-up.
We had a very productive meeting this week! 13 Scouts went over to the garage where we store our canoes and learned about the parts of the canoe and paddle. All of them were signed off on the requirement for First Class rank.
Other Scouts were working on merit badges and other rank advancements with the leaders.
We are working on getting someone to come in to meet with the Troop for the First Class requirement to learn about our constitutional rights and obligations as citizens of the United States. Stay tuned.

- Rock Cut Camping Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a great weekend at Rock Cut! The weather forecast was grim, but off we went. It turned out to be a fairly nice weekend.
On Friday night we enjoyed a pizza dinner in camp after all the tents were up and gear was stowed. It rained from midnight until about 6:00 AM, but we were under cover and everyone stayed dry.
On Saturday the morning clouds cleared and by noon the sun was shining and temperatures were in the 70s. We hiked around Pierce Lake (4.5 miles) and worked on rank advancement after lunch.
At dinner time we had a “one-pot lasagna” cook-off. Scout Matthew S. and Mr. Pelrine competed to make the best lasagna. Three impartial judges (Mr. Palmeri, Mr. Shogren, and Scout Avery) tasted both dishes and Matthew was declared the winner! Chef Matthew also made a Dutch oven pizza for his patrol for lunch. Watch out Gordon Ramsey!
We had a camp fire on Saturday night as the clouds started rolling in. It started raining around 9:00 and everyone headed for their tents. It rained for 11 straight hours so we made plans to break camp as quickly as possible on Sunday morning and head home. Instead of eating breakfast in camp, we focused on packing up (in the rain!) and getting into the cars. The Scouts did a remarkable job of breaking camp in less than an hour! We had breakfast at a nearby McDonald’s and headed home.

- New Recipe Section on the Troop Website

We have added a recipe section to the Troop website. It can be found in the Resource Center. It is set with a few popular recipes for camp food. It includes one pot lasagna and a tasty chicken noodle soup. If Scouts have camp recipes they want to post, please send them to me and we will add them to the site.

- Quiz!

You know the rules: You must email me with your answers AND copy a parent. If you don’t copy a parent your submission will be fed to a hungry goat! The first correct answer (that has been copied to a parent) will win an amazing prize!
Here we go:
How do you make the number seven even without adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing?

Good luck!
See you soon!
Mr. Pelrine
