Hi everyone,
- Next Troop Meeting – October 28 – Ahearn Center (Gym) – 7:00-9:00 pm
Monday night we are planning to work on rank advancement (bring your Handbook – it’s part of your uniform!). For our activity, we are currently thinking of a floor hockey tournament. Brackets will depend on how many Scouts attend.
Class B uniforms for all those who go camping at Rock Cut this weekend!
Class A uniforms for everyone else! Thank you!
- Camping Weekend at Rock Cut State Park – October 25-27
We will be tent camping at Rock Cut State Park this weekend. Sign-ups are now closed. We will be leaving from St Juliana at 5 pm on Friday, and will be returning approximately noonish on Sunday. The address of the park is 7223 West Lane Rd, Caledonia, IL 61111 and the drive will take us about an hour and 15 minutes. Additional details including driving directions and the emergency contact number are on the permission slip in the Resource Center.
We are not expecting rain, but evening temperatures will be in the low 40s, so bring appropriate clothing! It is better to bring layers of clothing instead of one thick jacket. Remember to bring something to wear on your head and some type of pad to put under your sleeping bag (your greatest heat loss while sleeping in a tent is into the ground). A full list of recommended gear is in the Resource Center. Especially don’t forget your water bottle, mess kit, Class A uniform, and Handbook!

- First Aid Meet and Kit Stock-Up?
Our Council is having a first aid meet on Sunday December 1. Teams of 4 to 6 Scouts from all over the Council will be given simulated first aid scenarios and will be scored based on how well they apply their first aid knowledge and skills. Interested Scouts should speak with Mr. Mandelin at the next meeting (Oct 28). We will do about 4 training sessions beforehand, but only if we have a team put together by the end of the Oct 28 meeting.
Jewel/Osco is running a BOGO50 (buy one, get one 50% off) sale on selected first aid items right now. This is a mix-n-match sale, so you do not need to buy two of the same item as long as both items are part of the sale. May be a good time to take inventory of your first aid kit!
