- Next Meeting – Monday, November 11 – Location TBD
Thanks to everyone for the assistance with packing sack lunches for Uncle Pete’s Ministry. We packed more than 70 lunches for homeless people in Chicago. This is an important ministry for the Troop to be involved in. It keeps us grounded in how much we have to be grateful for and how we can find ways to give back. A Scout is HELPFUL!
- Scout Mass – Sunday, November 10 – 9:30 AM – Food Drive
Join your fellow Scouts and Leaders for the November Scout Mass. If you can, please bring a donation for the food drive being conducted this Sunday. Class A uniforms for Scout Mass unless you are heading out on the Orienteering outing that morning.
- Patrol Leader Council Meeting – November 11 – 7:00 PM Sharp!
The PLC will meet on Monday, November 11 at 7:00 PM sharp. Please let me know if you are unable to attend. We will be discussing the November camping weekend, cell phone policy and the December day trip.
- November Cabin Camping Weekend – Nov 15-17 – Thanksgiving Mass and Dinner for Families
Our November camping weekend is our Troop celebration of Thanksgiving. We are cabin camping at BSA Camp Lakota in Woodstock.
We are hosting Mass and a Thanksgiving Dinner for our Scouts and their families (parents, siblings and grandparents) on Saturday evening. You are invited to join us at Camp Lakota at 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. We’ll have Mass at 4:30 and dinner immediately following. Mass and dinner will be indoors, so don’t worry about the weather!
It is critical that we have a good count for the meal, so we have the right amount of food. We need everyone who is planning to come out for dinner to RSVP by Monday, November 11 at 12:00 Noon. Please let me know if you plan to join us so I can include you in the count. Thanks.
- Edison Park Turkey Trot – Thursday, November 28
Join the Troop on Thanksgiving morning to help set up the Edison Park Turkey Trot. We will meet at Suerth Funeral Home at 8:00 a.m. to help get things organized. Scouts can earn service hours. Please plan to join us – it’s a great time to see many of our neighbors and get the holiday weekend started.
- Scoutmaster’s Electronic Minute – Veterans Day
I want to challenge the Scouts and everyone else affiliated with the Troop to spend a little time this weekend thinking about the meaning of Veterans Day. Whatever you think about the military and national politics, veterans are people we know and respect. They are people who felt a duty to serve our country and who were willing to support the common good of our country. They deserve our deep respect and gratitude for their service to our country and our security. Happy Veteran’s Day!
See you soon! Don’t forget to RSVP for the Thanksgiving Dinner!!
