Hi everyone,
It’s time to kick summer camp planning into high gear! Owasippe online registration opens on Saturday, April 29 and we want to be at the front of the line to make sure our Scouts get the merit badges and activities they want.
So, here are some reminders to help you and your son plan.
Dates: Sunday, July 16 to Saturday, July 22
Cost: $425 per Scout - This includes all meals, most activities, transportation, Owasippe t-shirt, group photo, and pizza night. There are some minor additional costs for materials in certain merit badges. Leaders are charged $225 for the week or there is a daily fee for those coming to camp for less than the whole week.
Deposit and Payment Deadlines:
Scouts: A $200 deposit is due by Monday, May 1 at the Troop meeting. The balance of the payment - $225 – is due to the Troop by Monday, May 15.
Leaders/Adults: A $100 deposit is due by Monday, May 1 at the Troop meeting. The balance of the payment - $125 – is due to the Troop by Monday, May 15.
After May 15, the Council charges a $25 late fee.
Signing up for Badges and Activities:
Attached to this email are a merit badge schedule and a list of prerequisites and extra fees for merit badges and other activities. Scouts will need to choose the badges and activities they want to participate in.
The leaders will help them make their choices at the April 24 Troop meeting. We want to have all of this sorted out prior to April 29, so we can register them online when the sign-up system goes live.
Dietary Needs: If your Scout has special dietary requirements, please let us know. There is a special form to fill out before we get to camp. Our experience has been that the camp kitchen works hard to accommodate special requirements.
Health Forms: The BSA Health Form is due to the Troop by June 12. Our new Scouts have until July 10 to submit their health form. Everyone is required to have a current health form to participate in summer camp. Complete information about the health form is available here: Health Forms.
Parents and Leaders Going to Camp: Any adults planning on attending summer camp at Owasippe must be registered with the BSA, including passing a background check and having a current BSA health form on file with the Troop by July 10.
These activities take time to complete so please initiate them as soon as possible. Reach out to Pete or Wayne for assistance in getting this completed on time.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
